SOUP Lunch
Wednesday, January 20th, Jay will be speaking at The Key Club at Marriott Downtown Cleveland as a part of the Society of Urban Professionals (SOUP) January luncheon.
He’ll be talking about some of Canvas’ upcoming partnerships and programs. He’ll also be sharing a number of free and low-cost resources that entrepreneurs and urban professionals can utilize to improve their overall brand awareness and lead generation.
Other speakers have included Basheer Jones (Radio-One), Stanley Miller (President, NAACP), Tom Waltermire (CEO, Team NEO), Dan B Hurwitz (CEO, DDR), and City Commissioner Peter Lawson Jones among others.

Karen E Mumford Foundation Awards Dinner
The Karen E. Mumford Cancer Foundation held it’s inaugural awards dinner honoring the humanitarian efforts of NFL Buffalo Bills’ Donte Whitner, and Jose C. Feliciano, Partner at Baker and Hostetler LLP, for their achievements in giving back to the Greater Cleveland Community in the area of healthcare.
Award recipients received the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Humanitarian Award. The event was held at The Flying Fig.
A number of local community leaders were in attendance including Judge A. Deane Buchanan (Cleveland Heights Municipal Court), Dr. Edgar Jackson (University Hospitals), and Ohio State Senator Shirley A. Smith.

Jay-Z / Blueprint 3 Concert
Jay-Z & Roc Nation recently held “The Blueprint 3″ concert tour at CSU Wolstein Center. A number of acts performed including newest Roc Nation signee J.Cole, Memphis Bleek, Wale, and N.E.R.D.
A number of local socialites, celebrities, and entrepreneurs were in attendance including LeBron James, Shaq, LRMR, Young Chris (State Property), Troy Smith (Baltimore Ravens), Johnny Dukes (Hush Money), Blessed Label Clothing, Demetria Francis (Headlines), DJ EV, Robin Prettyman, Frenchye Bush, Eighty81, Crew Camp, Greg Beckham (Beckham’s B&M), and Darnell Jackson (Cleveland Cavaliers).

STJ Foundation Inaugural Celebration
The inaugural celebration of the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Foundation was recently held in Washington D.C. as part of the 39th Annual Legislative Conference of the Congressional Black Caucas at Oya Lounge.
A number of local politicians and entrepreneurs were on hand including Marc Barnes (Dream/Park), Representative Kendrick Meek (D-FL17), and Andre Showell (BET Networks).
The STJ Foundation thanks Cleveland Clinic, BET Networks, and University Hospitals for their support.

7th Annual Minority Men’s Health Fair
On September 24th, Cleveland Clinic held it’s 7th Annual Minority Men’s Health Fair. A number of key community organizations, celebrities, and physicians were on hand to aid in raising awareness about the health disparities that exist within disenfranchised communities throughout Northeast Ohio.

Flash Fridays @ XO Prime Steaks
Friday, August 28, FLASH (Fashion Leaders Achieving Social Harmony) along with XO Prime Steaks held their monthly happy hour event for fashion industry professionals and fashion enthusiasts to promote the local fashion industry and encourage social interaction amongst industry professionals.

Sunday, August 16th, Basheer Jones & Secret Society Entertainment presents “Witness The Turnaround” at 1668 Payne Avenue (40th & Payne). The event starts at 7pm.
